FAQ

About Your Gift

What is my gift here?

Serviceplan partnered up with Treedom to plant 3000 trees. For your birthday we are dedicating one of the trees to you. So, this will be your tree and you can learn more about it.

What can I learn about my tree?

Your tree will be photographed, geolocalized, and will have an online page. With Treedom’s reporting, you can find out more about its features and its meaning, and customize it with your message.

How was my tree planted and how does it impact the surroundings?

Treedom carefully selects the regions for planting trees. With their expertise in the field of agroforestry, they create a real environmental and social impact for the local farming communities in the Global South. And your tree is a part of this change. Use the "Capture CO2" feature to find out how much CO2 you emit every day and capture it with the help of your tree.

About Serviceplan’s Commitment

What exactly do you mean by "climate neutral"?

By becoming "climate neutral", we mean that we will focus on reducing and/or avoiding emissions. We will then compensate for the unavoidable emissions to reach the goal of net-zero emissions. With the right measures, we want to reduce our footprint such that we save more than we emit, i.e., become CO2 negative.

When will you become climate neutral globally as stated in your commitment?

We are already climate neutral in Germany and aim to become globally climate neutral by the end of 2022.

How do you plan on honoring this commitment?

By analyzing the carbon emissions for all 24 locations worldwide and through certified measures, we will reduce and compensate our footprint. We are committed to complying with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and to having our annual Sustainability Report audited by the Global Reporting Initiative.

About Treedom

A lot of companies participate in tree planting these days, how can I be sure that the trees are really being planted?

Our planting partner Treedom performs data collection and provides updates for each tree planted. At first, all trees are geolocated, photographed, and put in a public tree register when planted. Treedom employees and their local partners then visit the project-sites regularly to observe the status of the trees.

What sets Treedom apart from the others?

We chose to partner with Treedom as they have the expertise in planting the right tree in the right location for the right purpose. The Treedom trees not only capture CO2 but also provide environmental benefits (such as prevention of soil erosion and improvement of biodiversity) and social benefits for the farmers and their families (through food security and economic benefits).

A total of 3000 trees doesn’t sound like a lot. Why not more?

Treedom puts quality ahead of quantity. 3000 trees can be better than 30,000 trees when planted correctly. Planting efforts can be more harmful to the native species of a region if not planned properly. All Treedom projects aim for a long-term impact and make sure that a seedling really becomes a tree.

Who can I speak with about the progress of the project?

We would love to tell you more. Write to us here.
